Metrics that matter after launch day

Launch-day spikes are fun, but they rarely tell you whether a feature worked. Four numbers we review one week after every release.

Launch day is loud. Traffic jumps, the team celebrates and the dashboard looks great. A week later, the real story starts to emerge — and that is the one worth paying attention to.

The four numbers we review

  • Activation: the share of eligible users who tried the feature at least once

  • Repeat use: how many came back in the following week

  • Time to value: how long it took to reach the first useful result

  • Support load: new tickets or questions tied to the release

Compare against a baseline

Each metric is only useful next to what you expected. We write a one-line hypothesis before every launch — “30% of active teams will try scheduled releases within a week” — so the review is a comparison, not a guess.

“The launch review used to be a slideshow. Now it’s a 15-minute decision about what to do next.”

— Sarah Collins, Head of Product at Lumora

Liftoff’s launch analytics pull these numbers automatically for every release, so the review takes minutes instead of an afternoon of spreadsheet work.
